Happy New Year, Chaffey Members!

We are excited to reach 2024, and celebrate 60 years of providing services to our membership!  Thank you for the faith and trust you have put in Chaffey Federal Credit Union for six decades; read on through our newsletter to find out how we will be celebrating YOU during the month of January 2024!  Here are some fun facts about Chaffey FCU from the past six decades

· Chaffey FCU was formed with just 300 members in January 1964; today we have over 12,000 members!

· The “par value” for a credit union share account has been $5 since we were founded.

· Our longest-tenured member opened their account in March 1964 and is still a member today!

· Our original name was “Chaffey District Employees Federal Credit Union;” we changed to “Chaffey Federal Credit Union” on September 28, 1987.

· Chaffey FCU has 40 employees across three branches plus an administration site.  Our longest-serving employee has been with us for 24 years!

Entering the winter months can be a difficult time for many when it comes to managing finances.  Many of us engage in emotional spending during the holidays and enter the new year with more debt than we intended (does this Instagram post feel familiar?).  Add on to that our regular day-to-day expenses, the return of student loan payments and perhaps even the occasional overdraft charge, and things can get a bit overwhelming.  Thankfully, January is Financial Wellness month, and Chaffey FCU would like to be a resource for you in achieving that…and not just in January!  As you read on, we have some tips for you on how to plan for your own state of Financial Wellness, and never hesitate to call us to speak to a representative for some guidance.

Chaffey FCU continues to be on the lookout for volunteers to help guide the strategic direction of the credit union.  We are on an exciting path, and I would love to have your input as we begin our seventh decade of service!  I invite any of our members who are interested in serving* on the credit union’s Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee to visit our website to learn more about these roles and/or express your interest.

End of year Smiles

This past holiday season, we had the opportunity to host a Holiday Toy Drive for There is Hope Foster Family Agency. Thanks to our generous Members and staff, each Chaffey branch received toy donations to spread holiday cheer and smiles to children supported by There is Hope.

There is Hope is a foster care agency with the goal of providing youth in foster care with a nurturing environment that fulfills their individual needs. Based in Upland, There is Hope has placed over 86,700 children in better homes since it was established in 2003.

Funding Student Dreams

For the third year in a row, we’ve had the opportunity to fund local student dreams.

From November 24 - December 25, 2023, we donated part of every purchase made with a Chaffey FCU Visa debit or credit card to the Chaffey College Foundation’s Fund a Dream program. Fund a Dream works to increase student retention and graduation rates by providing financial assistance to deserving Chaffey College students.

Together, we raised $5,772!

*$0.03 from every CFCU Visa debit card transaction and $0.10 from every CFCU Visa credit card transaction was automatically donated to Fund a Dream.
